CPE: Canadian Pork Excellence

The Canadian Pork Excellence (CPE) program is the new national platform that will be replacing the Canadian Quality Assurance® (CQA) program over the next three years. The CPE program allows registered pork producers to demonstrate compliance with food safety, animal care, and traceability requirements.

The Canadian Pork Excellence platform includes three on-farm programs:

  • PigSAFE - food safety and biosecurity component of CPE. Based on the same Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) model used in the CQA program.
  • PigCARE - animal care component of CPE. It is the revised Animal Care Assessment™ (ACA) program. It reflects the requirements from the 2014 Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Pigs.
  • PigTRACE - traceability component of CPE. PigTRACE improves emergency management and mitigates risks. PigTRACE is required under Canadian legislation

The producer and/or site manager isvrequired to complete the CAR within the specified timeframe provided by the validator. Photo or video proof
