Ontario Pork will join industry partners to offer pork producers a safe place to dispose of veterinary sharps on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the 2018 Ontario Pork Congress. Sharps in secure containers can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. only at the outdoor collection booth, to the right of the main entrance to the community hall.
- Sharps must be in a puncture-proof, leak-resistant plastic container with a tight-fitting lid – no larger than a 2-gallon (14.5L) pail
- Secure the lid with duct tape to reduce the risk of spillage during transport and disposal
- Needles and scalpel blades only – no expired medications or used vaccine vials
- Collected sharps will be picked up immediately after the drop-off period (ie no drop offs will be accepted after 3 p.m.)
