With warmer weather approaching, Ontario Pork would like to remind producers and transporters of warm weather protocols for pig transport. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) enforces load density based on the Transportation Code of Practice for Livestock which states load density must be reduced in hot and humid weather. Failure to comply with these animal welfare requirements may result in monetary penalties from CFIA and administrative actions from the plants.
