Food banks across Ontario will be able to put more protein on the menu with shipments of ground pork delivered in October and November.
The Friends of the Food Bank program sees Ontario Pork match cash donations made by individuals and industry. Money raised is used to purchase ground pork distributed to the thousands of families that visit food banks in the province each year. The latest donation brings the total donated so far this year to 11,880 pounds.
Since 2016, more than 123,000 pounds of ground pork have been donated to help feed families through the Feed Ontario network (formerly Ontario Association of Food Banks.) The program traces its roots to Ontario Pork’s “Donate a Hog” program, which began in 1998.
We would like to make another donation before the busy holiday season.
To donate or learn more, visit the Ontario Pork Program page on the Feed Ontario website or you can also contact Friends of the Food Bank Committee Chair, Steve Thomas at firstname.lastname@example.org or 519-301-6010.
Donation cheques are to be made payable to Feed Ontario and can be mailed to Trish Littlejohn at the Ontario Pork Industry Council:

Each year, close to half a million people in Ontario visit a food bank. This holiday season, Feed Ontario food bank programs will help 1 in 3 children.
We can make a difference this holiday season. With your donations we will help Feed Ontario supply healthy and delicious ground pork for families to enjoy. Donations sent to Feed Ontario through the Friends of the Foodbank program will be match by Ontario Pork. A charitable donation receipt will be provided by Feed Ontario (formerly the Ontario Association of Food Banks).
Thank you for helping make the Friends of the Food Bank program a success. Together we are making a difference.
Sincerely, Steve Thomas
Chair, Friends of the Food Bank Committee
