RESEARCH

Ontario Pork Research

Research serves as the fundamental building block for the advancement of our industry and the cornerstone of the industry's success.  Ontario Pork, through its rigorous application process, funds various areas of swine production, economics and business sustainability, marketing and product development, and social research.

Annual Submissions:

The Ontario Pork Research Committee accepts applications in early January for review.  Applications must meet the priority areas identified and follow the standard Ontario Pork proposal outline. Those submitting proposals of interest will be invited to make a 10 minute presentation to the committee.

Pigs, Pork and Progress:

The Farm Innovation Program (FIP) was part Growing Forward Innovation and Science Suite of programs, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative. The aim of FIP was to boost agricultural research,  competitiveness, and productivity in Ontario’s agricultural sectors. This program is now closed.

Ontario Pork publishes “Pigs, Pork and Progress” a magazine containing short summaries that highlight pork research in Ontario.  The publication is to promote dialogue, understanding and communication of Ontario Pork research and development and raise the profile of swine research.
