EDUCATORS

How Much Do You Know About Pigs and Pork?

At Ontario Pork, we believe that educating our youth on agriculture and pigs in particular, is one of the best ways to illustrate how we care for the land, animals and the environment.  We offer comprehensive education programs that link directly to the curriculum for Ontario schools. Experts are available for classroom presentations free of charge. We also participate in larger county-wide Agriculture in the Classroom presentations either as part of local fairs or as stand alone events.

Interesting Fact:  Pigs don’t sweat.  They don’t have sweat glands in their skin, which allow for the body to cool down in hot temperatures.

The Ontario Pork Pig Mobile

Pig Mobile The Pig Mobile is a glassed-in traveling display unit that holds a sow and piglets as well as other pigs at various stages of development. It allows the students to see pigs up close without the biosecurity concerns of an on-farm visit. Along with local events, it is also at the CNE in August and the Royal in November.  This unit is on the road over 100 days per year so early booking is recommended.

"Thank you for sending the Pig Rig to the Arthur Agricultural Society's Ag Awareness Day.  The students, teachers and volunteers all thought it was a great addition to the day.”
